The Protekt 500 is a gel infused foam mattress built with Visco Gel Polymer Technology (VGPT). Proactive says the foam dissipates heat rapidly and breathes more than traditional foam, and that it gives more support and less cradling as it compresses further.

About The Protekt 500 Gel Infused Foam Pressure Redistribution Mattress
The heel section slopes at 30 degrees to move pressure toward the whole leg. Along the sides, the PTSS Rail System adds support for transfers and edge of bed sitting. The stretch nylon top cover is fluid resistant with a low shear/friction surface, the triple laminate vinyl bottom cover is fire retardant, and a fire sleeve meets 16 CFR part 1633.
It holds 500 lbs. Sizes include 36 in wide in three lengths, a 9 in Plus, and 42 or 48 x 80 in. The core is warranted for 15 years, non-prorated.
